The hotel uses a lot of earthy colours and light woods in the public areas and guest rooms, which help to create a cosy feel. In keeping with the hotel's sustainability ethos, many materials have been recycled and reused.

Bedrooms

The sustainable theme continues in the rooms which range in size from 10 to 12sqm - Snug Nests are best suited to one person and Cosy Nests are better for two guests. Rooms make the most of the space with clever shelving and under-bed storage, a fold-down desk and separate toilet and shower.

Room types: Snug Nest, Cosy Nest

Key amenities: ensuite bathroom with toiletries, tea and coffee facilities, mineral water, TV, free Wi-Fi

Restaurants & Bars

The ALT restaurant focuses on local, seasonal produce and the kitchen is zero-waste - expect to see 'wonky' veg soup on the menu. There's an emphasis on Irish brands in the bar, from local craft betters to whiskeys and vodkas. The roasted beetroot risotto with pan-seared Wicklow wild mushrooms, candied beets, carrot ginger purée and baby carrots was delicious.

ALT: rustic restaurant and bar, casual dining. Open daily for buffet breakfast, all-day dining and drinks.
