Style

Built in 1860, the architecture is classically colonial in style. There's a wraparound veranda and meticulously maintained gardens, reminiscent of the settings found in epic tales by Henry James. The interior décor embraces a palette of subdued greys and gentle greens, while adornments like deer antlers and elk heads add character and intrigue to the walls.

Service & Facilities

Wingrove House is overseen by a small yet highly capable team, skilled in the art of providing warm and engaging service while maintaining a high level of professionalism. During the summer season, they'll arrange garden furniture on the lawn and place wicker loungers on the veranda.

The elegant rooms have a stylish colour palette of greys, olive greens and creamy tones. Each room has a distinct character, featuring seagrass carpets, shutters and Art Deco-inspired décor. Some have vaulted ceilings and rustic exposed beams, while others provide easy access to the inviting veranda.

Restaurants & Bars

The restaurant is light, airy and rather modern compared to the rest of the house and we loved the seasonal menu and commitment to Sussex produce, like Sussex Smokie bonbons or local venison and pheasant. Head chef Matthew Comben hails from The Hungry Monk in Jevington and brings with him the Monk's original and magnificent banoffee pie recipe. The small lounge bar with an open fire and an impressive gin menu is great for a nightcap.

The Wingrove restaurant: European cuisine, fish from the grill, steaks, Sunday roasts. Open daily for breakfast, dinner Mon-Sat 6-9pm; Sunday lunch 12-3pm, dinner 6-8pm. Mains from £15.
