Location

Tregarthen's enjoys a fabulous setting, right beside the water's edge with spectacular views of neighbouring islands. You can reach the busy quay in a few minutes on foot, from where passenger boats leave twice daily for the off-islands. There are also dedicated day-trips by boat, such as wildlife safaris and glass-bottom boat tours.

The hotel is in Hugh Town on St Mary's, a few minutes' walk from the quay.

By plane: Skybus flights to St Mary's from Newquay (30 minutes), Exeter (1 hour) or Lands End (15 minutes). The hotel is a 5-minute drive from the airport. Book flights to St Mary's.

By boat: the Scillionian III Passenger Ferry departs from Penzance (2 hours 45 minutes). The hotel is a 5-minute walk from the terminal.

Style

Founded by Captain Frank Tregarthen in 1849, this traditionally-decorated hotel is oriented around its jaw-dropping sea views. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors in the conservatory give onto a lovely garden terrace, in the heart of the building you'll find the Captain's old living quarters. Interiors are neutral have been kept neutral with some pops of blue and yellow, invoking the coastal surroundings.

Service & Facilities

The staff are extremely knowledgable about the islands, and have plenty of advice to offer, as well as an exceedingly warm welcome. This is somewhere you can really feel at home. Room service is available on request if you fancy a lazy day, plus a laundry service can be provided.

Choose between the formal restaurant or the relaxed dog-friendly conservatory with its unfussy vibe. Expect locally sourced produce wherever possible - Fisherman's Catch includes squid ink gnocchi, sorrel velouté, baby courgette, nasturtium leaf and mussels stuffed with parmesan, bechamel and tomato concasse - absolutely exquisite. Also on offer is a curated list of wines and a host of Scilly-produced ales, gins, vodkas, rums and cocktails.
