Location
The hotel is set within its own grounds, making it a peaceful location. You're 30 minutes from Roman Fort sites including Chesters, Housesteads and Vindolanda. Head to Hexham for the Abbey, tea rooms and independent shops.
The hotel is six miles to the south of the A69 between Newcastle and Carlisle; the nearest towns are Corbridge and Hexham.
By car: around 2 hours from York, 3 hours from Manchester and 6 hours from London. Free on-site parking available.
By train: Manchester to Hexham takes 3 hours 30 minutes; London to Hexham takes 4 hours - after which, it's a 20-minute drive to the hotel. Book trains to Hexham.
Style
You'll find well-preserved rooms in the original Edwardian building with its dark oak panelling and bay windows, while the majority of the hotel is in more modern, sandstone extensions. The feel is that of a members club, with dark tartan carpets, plum and grey décor and black-framed mirrors.

Mr Kennedy's Brasserie: classic British cuisine, dishes include confit duck leg and pork belly. Open daily for breakfast and dinner.
