OUR REVIEW
Location
The world's oldest aquarium is nearby; the popular sea life centre was designed by Eugenius Birch, the same architect who designed the West Pier. You're also close to antique shops, little bars which locals love, quirky boutiques and a flea market where you can pick up some great finds for great prices.
The hotel is a 10-minute stroll from the main attractions of Brighton, but its stomping ground of Kemptown also has much to offer.
By car: over 2 hours from London and Oxford, and 3 hours from Bristol. On-site parking costs £10 per day.
By train: trains from London Victoria and London Bridge take around 1 hour. It's a 7-minute drive (or 20-minute walk) from the station. Book trains to Brighton.
Style
A calm, clean atmosphere is created through the white walls, while paintings and soft furnishings add pops of colour. Rooms are spacious and uncluttered, and large windows provide plenty of natural light. Fireplaces and large, comfortable chairs add a homely touch to this otherwise modern boutique hotel.
Service & Facilities
The garden square outside the hotel was an ideal place to see the sensational sea views. We appreciated the recommendations on where to eat out - and most places were only a 15-minute walk away.
- Terrace
- Beachfront
- On-site parking
- Free Wi-Fi
Bedrooms
Rooms are modern with statement fireplaces which are cosy in the cooler months. While some are more spacious than others, all rooms use a safe colour palette and minimal furniture for an uncluttered look, with chic tiled bathrooms.
Room types: Single, Cosy, Classic, Design, Exceutive, Superior, Signature, Deluxe Balcony, Rooftop Balcony
Key amenities: ensuite bathroom with toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, tea and coffee-making facilities, mini fridge, TV, free Wi-Fi
Restaurants & Bars
The hotel only serves breakfast, which comes with a £10 charge - though we felt that was good value for a freshly cooked, wholesome breakfast. Produce was sourced locally as much as possible, and being coffee lovers, we appreciated the fact that theirs was very decent. The views of Brighton's seafront whilst eating was a lovely bonus.
Breakfast room: light, airy dining room serving a continental breakfast and cooked options.
