The Pilgrm, Paddington, London

The Pilgrm is close to Notting Hill and just a 15-minute stroll from Hyde Park and the Serpentine. Lots of London sights are within walking distance but for something a little different, try paddleboarding your way to Little Venice from Active 360 in Paddington basin.

Located just by Paddington station, the hotel lies in an excellent position and is easily accessible from Heathrow airport.

By car: around 2 hours from Brighton, 2 hours 30 minutes from Bristol and Birmingham, and 4 hours from Manchester. Paid parking available nearby.

By train: Paddington station is a 2-minute walk. Book trains to London.

This is a stylish hotel. There's a focus on sustainability, which can be seen through design features such as upcycled fixtures and furnishings, and recycled wood panelling. The parquet flooring, marble table tops and cast-iron radiators combine to give a slick yet comfy mid-century feel.

There's still and sparkling water always available on tap in the downstairs café or first-floor lounge - top tip, ask for your own recyclable bottle on check-in. On each floor you'll find a pantry, where you can grab tea or coffee (or even a book).

There's a casual ground-level café, while the first-floor lounge offers all-day dining from an open kitchen. Starting with a delicious brunch menu that goes on until 3pm, into the night expect charcuterie plates, assorted cheeses and other small plates designed to be paired with a drink from the bar.
