Location
The inn is within a small hamlet, surrounded by beautiful countryside. Abergavenny and the Brecon Beacons in Wales are around 30 minutes by car.
The nearest train station is in the cathedral city of Hereford.
By car: 1 hour 20 minutes from Birmingham, under 2 hours from Oxford and 3 hours from London. Free on-site parking available.
By train: London Paddington to Hereford takes under 3 hours, after which, a taxi takes 20 minutes. Book trains to Hereford.
Style
Prior to its restoration, this Grade II-listed building had been closed for five years. Despite contemporary touches, such as brightly-coloured chairs in the restaurant, it retains plenty of character with exposed timbers, beams and uneven walls. The restaurant is lined with tartan and leather banquettes, while the old wood and zinc-topped bar has green walls and pendant lighting.

There are three rooms: Fox and Hound (Standard), and Hare (Superior). Rooms are spacious and simply furnished, with neutral décor and a blend of old and new - modern furniture and facilities such as a Smart TV contrast with the characterful original beams.

Restaurants & Bars
Expect Modern British dishes of a really high standard (there's also a simpler bar menu). There's a really good selection of drinks too - from local beers, ciders and gin to the 74 wines on the wine list, including ones from Lebanon, China and Romania. The ten-course tasting menu was amazing and the langoustine bisque had such complex, rich flavours.
Restaurant: 2 AA Rosettes, locally-sourced and seasonal produce. Open Wed-Sat for lunch and dinner, Sun for lunch. Tasting menu from £65pp.
Bar: open Wed-Sun from 12pm.
