There's plenty to do in Galway: see the former medieval city walls, peruse the art galleries of the Latin Quarter or head to a traditional Irish pub and listen to some live folk music.

The hotel is ideally located to explore the city of Galway (15-minute walk) as well as the dramatic Irish coastline.

By plane: Birmingham and Edinburgh to Shannon takes 1 hour 15 minutes; London to Shannon takes 1 hour 30 minutes - after which, a taxi takes an hour. Free on-site parking available. Book flights to Shannon.

Style

You will either love or hate the predominantly pink and purple features of the hotel - the style is certainly unique. We loved the patterned wallpaper and sofas in the signature lounges. There's even a live aqauarium in the reception area, adding another element of interest and intrigue.

Service & Facilities

We appreciated the recommendations from staff on where to eat and what to visit or see - handy, as we didn't know the area. From a cute café we may have overlooked, to the local pub with live music, their tips made a real difference to our stay.

Restaurants & Bars

The menu at GEO is impressive and the restaurant uses local suppliers. Dishes include monkfish Wellington served with woodruff mayo, and Irish angus beef fillet with bone marrow crust. The lounges and cocktail bars cannot be missed either. The McGeough Sausage Bap for brunch is a good shout.

GEO: formal dining, locally sourced produce. All-day dining, open daily.
