Style

The breakfast room, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, offers a great venue for weddings. A sunlit conservatory at the entrance of this Georgian structure floods the space with natural light, while vibrant plantings adorn the exterior. Relax on a plush leather sofa in the lounge or perch on a bar stool.

Service & Facilities

A youthful and eager team offer friendly assistance, including the option to help carry your bags to the rooms. It's worth noting that access to the indoor pool may require wandering several corridors and bathrobes are exclusively available in the higher room category, so feel free to request one if needed.

Bedrooms

With cream-painted walls, dark wood furniture and soft furnishings in muted colours of sage and orange, the rooms feel a bit corporate. Superior rooms boast robes and coffee machines. Bathrooms come with incredibly powerful showers, likely found above the bath.

Room types: Cosy Keepers, Classic Agisters, Superior Crowns, Family Verderer

Key amenities: ensuite bathroom with Temple Spa bath products, TV, 24-hour room service, tea and coffee-making facilities, free Wi-Fi

Restaurants & Bars

While the restaurant may lack some atmosphere (in contrast to the brighter breakfast room with garden views), the 1820 Grill and Brasserie impresses with excellent cuisine. Renowned for hand-cut steaks, they also deliver flawlessly cooked herb-crumb hake fillet with crab bisque. The 1820 potato hash with portobello mushrooms, spinach, chilli oil and sunny-side up free-range eggs was a great start to the day.

1820 Grill and Brasserie: classic dining, local steaks, afternoon teas. Open daily for lunch and dinner. Mains from £14. Breakfast is served in the bright and airy Forest Room.
