Style

There's a clear Art Deco theme, from the furniture to the overall style. Icelandic strong-man Jóhannes Jósefsson is the man behind the vision - and in building Iceland's first luxury hotel, he's created an iconic landmark. There are black and white photos of locals scattered about, which creates interest.

Service & Facilities

We really appreciated the tips from staff on where to go whilst in the city. It was so invaluable and helped shaped our day's plans.

Bedrooms

The Art Deco theme continues to the rooms, which have features such as panelled headboards, glass Bankers lamps, black and white framed photos and veneered parquet floors. Despite this, amenities are modern and marble bathrooms have underfloor heating.

Room types: Single, Standard, Superior, Deluxe, Suite, Tower Suite

Key amenities: ensuite bathroom with toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, hairdryer, tea and coffee-making facilities, desk, TV, free Wi-Fi

Restaurants & Bars

The restaurant's décor is smart and so is its food offering. Fresh, local fish and seafood feature heavily, with dishes such as langoustine and scallop vol-au-vents and gravlax. The rack of lamb was cooked to perfection and the prawn cocktail à la Borg was delicious.

Restaurant Borg: traditional Icelandic and classic European cuisine. Open Wed-Fri for lunch, Wed-Sun for dinner. Live music on Fri-Sat, 7-9pm.
