This location offers easy access to enchanting rocky bays and breathtaking coastal views that stretch across Torbay and beyond. Guests can explore nearby attractions such as The National Trust's Greenway House, the cherished residence of Agatha Christie and Coleton Fishacre, a captivating 1920s estate with stunning grounds. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the presence of Berry Head Geo-Park and Nature Reserve.

Berry Head Hotel is set within six acres of woodland with direct access onto the South West Coast Path.

By car: around 2 hours 30 minutes from Bristol, 4 hours 30 minutes from London and 5 hours 15 minutes from Manchester. Free parking on site.

By train: there are direct trains to Paignton from Exmouth (25 minutes) and London Paddington (3 hours 10 minutes). The hotel is a 20-minute drive from the station. Book trains to Paignton.

Originally established as a military hospital during the Napoleonic wars in 1809, Berry Head Hotel seamlessly blends elements of tradition and modernity, tastefully preserving the building's rich heritage. Inside, open fires, comfortable leather sofas and magnificent palm-lined terraces encourage guests to unwind.

There are five self-catering apartments and traditionally designed rooms blended with modern elements. First-floor rooms have lofty ceilings and generous doors that open onto expansive balconies. On the second floor, the rooms skillfully blend light tones with vibrant accents, evoking a fresh and minimalist nautical theme.

Restaurants & Bars

Choose to dine either in the more formal Bonaparte restaurant or the contemporary View Brasserie & Terrace; both have views of the water. Dishes have a focus on local produce, in particular seafood, with Brixham being home to one of the largest ports in the UK. In the mornings, we tucked into smoked salmon with smashed avocado and fresh spinach on an English muffin, dressed with homemade hollandaise.

The Bonaparte Restaurant: formal fine-dining, local produce, modern British cuisine. Open daily. 3 courses for £35.

The View Brasserie & Terrace: relaxed, bistro menu. Open daily 8-10.30am, 12-9pm. Mains from £14.50.
